Reporting today From Washington, DC

*It is with Sadness that I annouce that my Father Passed Away after a series of Illnesses. Rest In Peace Dad!!!*

Now to Issues Regarding Africa:

The Indictment has been handed down!! President Al-Bashir of Sudan has been Indicted for War Crimes.

The Militias still run Rampant thoughout the Congo despite the Efforts of 4 Countries.

There is legitimate concern over the Internal Stability of Kenya.

And of Course there are Guinea-Bissau which seems to be Africa's First Narco-State and the Status Quo in Zimbabwe.

And what can the USA Do About It?

At this time the Obama Administration is reviewing Policy Decisions made by President Bush in Several Countries. The list includes such Countries as Sudan, Somalia and Zimbabwe. The Goal is probably to determine what course of action this Administration will take. There are basically two choices Change the Direction or Maintain the Status Quo.

Right Now the Situations in Both Darfur and the Congo should be drawing the most Interest inside the beltway. At Press Time there are reports that the Chadian Military is increasing its Alert Status along the Border with Sudan. It was feared that this would be one way that the Sudanese would lash out against the ICC Indictment.

In the DRC the Attempts to rein in the LRA (Ugandan), FDLR (Rwandan) and the CNDP(Congolese) continue. Success is Margainal at best against the LRA. There will be a new series of Peace Talks with the CNDP and the Offensive against the FDLR has been heralded as a success by the International Media. (There is room under the Agreement to allow for Rwandans to return to the DRC Stay Tuned for this one.)

It has been revealed that AFRICOM assisted the Ugandan Military with the Planning for Operation Lightning Thunder. The Efforts have called into question the feasability of AFRICOM itself.

Although No Action has been taken against the Somali Pirates, The Executive Order that calls for US Special Forces to Raid Parts of Somalia still waits on the Desk of the President.

The Use of Militias in African Conflicts is just the Tip of the Iceberg.

Advocates for Peace and Justice Issues are now focusing their efforts on the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Abundant Natural Resources are an area of Contention. Like in Most other war zones Women and Children suffer at the Hands of the Warlords the UN and International Financial Interests.

There are now Calls for the President to appoint a Special Envoy for the Congo. Hopefully that person will have the ability to do their job. As a Matter of Fact Envoy are needed in both Somalia and in Sudan. As it comes to Zimbabwe the Policy of giving the New Government a chance appears to be a case of doing as little as possible to address the situation.

The Grassroots Efforts to Address the Situation in Darfur has been gaining momentmum as well since the ICC handed down the Indictment. There have been efforts asking Secretary of State Clinton to show leadership in this matter as well.

It does make me wonder why such an effort cannot be undertaken regarding both situations in Somalia and Zimbabwe.

But that is how Policy is made these days.
