It should be noted that some of these Policies are in fact carrying
over from the Bush Administration. Currently the US Navy has stepped up its efforts to Combat Piracy that is currently occuring
in the Gulf of Aden.
But when it comes to Somalia will this Administration follow the Failed Policy
of trying to Restore a Functioning Central Government or will it support an Independent Somaliland?
Secretary Clinton stated that this Administration will follow the
lead of the Bush Administration and Continue in the Effort to Combat HIV,Malaria and TB in Africa.
Even though Zimbabwe is in the Midst of a Cholera Epidemic, Hyperinflation,
Poor Governance and an increasingly restless status of the Security Forces, The US will continue to send much need Food and
Medical Assistance.
The Situation in the DRC is still in Flux. It is still too early to determine
how the Arrest of General Nkunda in Rwanda earlier this week will change the Status Quo in the Eastern Part of the Country.
And the Offensive against the LRA continues to Muddle along.
Darfur will probably prove to be interesting. The Sudanese Air Force has
launched several Air Raids against the Rebels. JEM the main resisitance movement has launched a offensive as well. What happens
if the Administration decides to follow up with the Williamson Memo? and Kordofan is on the verge of conflict as well.
The Secretary did not mention the residual conflicts from Darfur that are
ongoing. But the Rebel Faction in Eastern Chad have formed an Alliance and Peace Talks continue to Progress in the Central
African Republic.
What of West Africa? Drug and Human Trafficking are prevelant in the Region
and Piracy is a Problem in the Gulf of Guinea as well.
