At this time the Obama Administration is reviewing Policy Decisions
made by President Bush in Several Countries. The list includes such Countries as Sudan, Somalia and Zimbabwe. The Goal is
probably to determine what course of action this Administration will take. There are basically two choices Change the Direction
or Maintain the Status Quo.
Right Now the Situations in Both Darfur and the Congo should be drawing the
most Interest inside the beltway. At Press Time there are reports that the Chadian Military is increasing its Alert Status
along the Border with Sudan. It was feared that this would be one way that the Sudanese would lash out against the ICC Indictment.
In the DRC the Attempts to rein in the LRA (Ugandan), FDLR (Rwandan) and
the CNDP(Congolese) continue. Success is Margainal at best against the LRA. There will be a new series of Peace Talks with
the CNDP and the Offensive against the FDLR has been heralded as a success by the International Media. (There is room under
the Agreement to allow for Rwandans to return to the DRC Stay Tuned for this one.)
It has been revealed that AFRICOM assisted the Ugandan Military with the
Planning for Operation Lightning Thunder. The Efforts have called into question the feasability of AFRICOM itself.
Although No Action has been taken against the Somali Pirates, The Executive
Order that calls for US Special Forces to Raid Parts of Somalia still waits on the Desk of the President.
